My first muslauf project: Part 1

In july, after quite a lot of researching and thinking, I finally decided to convert my Rog maraton to fixed gear along with complete rebuild/repaint/refresh.
I disassembled the bicycle and started stripping the paint with lavacol.

Few days later all paint was stripped.

At this point I was very tempted only clear coat it, to capture this beautiful natural metal finish with brazed joints.

I cut and smoothed unnecessary mounts for mudguards, kickstand,...

Then I primed the frame and forks and sent them to the paint shop.

Mus-scan

We are proud to present you the photos made with one of the worlds largest format digital camera...

Professional reporters use full frame 24 x 36 mm CCD, in fashion photograpy it can get to middle format 60 x 60 mm digital backs. They are all a bunch of amateurs compared to Muslauf, our digital back is HUGE 210 x 297 mm. It is more than 140 times the size of CCD in average consumer camera, 7o times the full frame (Leica) and almost 20 times the middle format (Hasselblad)... Our camera has the capabilities of tilt-shift photography and other goodies... This kind of equipment makes Photoshop obsolete.

I hope you will like the photos and have as much fun as we did taking them.

It takes some time to scan a picture and we made some use of it. (This one was scanned from the roof of moving car, and the bike riders followed the car on the same distance...)

Scanner takes pictures in very wide spectre of light including infra red... Colour images could be made with use of rather expensive filters. Until then it is more or less purple.
