My first muslauf project: Part 1

In july, after quite a lot of researching and thinking, I finally decided to convert my Rog maraton to fixed gear along with complete rebuild/repaint/refresh.
I disassembled the bicycle and started stripping the paint with lavacol.

Few days later all paint was stripped.

At this point I was very tempted only clear coat it, to capture this beautiful natural metal finish with brazed joints.

I cut and smoothed unnecessary mounts for mudguards, kickstand,...

Then I primed the frame and forks and sent them to the paint shop.

Somec Pista

Got new bike on road. It used to be 58cm Somec Pista. Frame was slightly crashed when I got it, and I made quite some work to shrink it on size 53cm. I just got it "ready" for Bicycle Film Festival in Tallinn.

Old-school electronics bike bell

I found some old electronics in my garage and made a new ‘’noise machine’’…

DIY material: bell (broken alarm clock); ‘’jack’’, ‘’činč’’, PVC wire, hook’n’loop tape, washers…

Put everything together and you’ve made yourself an electronic bell…enjoy riding on empty streets while grooving!…

Rossin is almost ready

...just few small things are missing anymore.

New chainring for Rossin

I ordered two 50t rings with 144pcd from CNC-shop. It was too difficult for me to do CNC-plan

of spider hole so I machined that with hand tools. That was quite some work, I will not make
that
another tomorrow ;)

Pripyat fixed

Today in Helsinki there were organized 'Wool Ride' for fixies.

Yesterday I realized that I dont have anymore any bike to drive in snow.
I needed to get fat tires on something... No luck, no bike didnt accept bigger
tyres. What to do? A new bike? What, in 6hours (clock was 18.00). From
my backyard, under snow I found pile of super rotten frames from 30-40's.
They all were so rotten that pieces fell off! Pripyats frame is made out of 3 different
frames, fork is from Victoria which I believe is from WW2 era. For wheels I used
"motomag" and "fourspoke" with tires I found from my backyard too. Front tire is
groovy green GoodYear made in Indonesia from year X. Pripyat was ready for
test drive at 23.30, after 40meter test run I went to sleep. Today it worked fine
all 10kilometer Ride! Fun! :)
